Meet Belinda Fleming

During the month of February, we’ll be sharing interesting facts about our SOL Yoga Teachers.

So here’s 20 things about Belinda and her beautiful so{u}l, the Founder and Owner of Sol:

1. I am called mama, mom, mum or mom-pwah by five very special humans whom I have given birth to: Colby, Abigail, Amelia, Zadie, Hap Allen.

 

2. I am left handed with most activities, except I play sports right handed. (I can play ping pong with both hands)

 

3. I hum all the time, every day, all day.

 

4. I love to sing, it makes me happy.

 

5. Hot baths will cure just about anything and I take one every day! I never take showers if I can help it!

 

6. I am a vegetarian / pescatarian. I don’t eat meat but I do eat fish.

 

7. I read every single day and I have at least 3 books by my bed at all times.

 

8. I was in a movie called Little Darlings starring Kristy McNichol and Tatum O’Neal when I was in 7th grade.

 

9. I love to travel around the world and have been to many places in Africa, Europe, North America, Russia, Asia and have many more places to go.

 

10. I have a simple nickname B. My given name is Belinda Jean.

 

11. I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro 19,341 ft. above sea level. It was harder than I thought it would be but I can do hard things.

 

12. I am training for my fifth marathon, Big Sur in California.

 

13. I love with my whole heart.

 

14. I traveled to India to study yoga in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, located at the foot of the Himalayan mountains along the banks of the Ganges River.

 

15. I have taken a deep plunge into the freezing waters of the Ganges River which is believed to be spiritual waters which wash away all of your sins for a lifetime. (Here’s to being hopeful it took)

 

16. I am over the moon about the upcoming wedding of my oldest son Colby and his fiancé Taylor on Oct. 22, 2022. It is going to be a very special occasion for our family.

 

17. I have practiced crow pose for many, many years and still, I can only hold it for about 30 seconds.

 

18. I love to do headstands (salamba sirsasana) and I can stay in headstand for 2 minutes.

 

19. I am stubborn.

 

20. My favorite Sanskrit mantra is Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu.
“May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
