Meet Samantha Clayton

Get to know 20 things about Sol Yoga Teacher Samantha Clayton and her aerial loving so{u}l:

1. I have a twin brother. You wouldn’t believe how often we get asked if we’re identical.

2. Born and raised Texan, here. Perhaps that’s why I detest being cold. Extra fun fact: Matthew McConaughey went to my high school.

3. I call myself a “flexitarian.” Most days I’m vegetarian, but I’ll eat meat occasionally.

4. In college, I went on a study abroad program to India. It was fantastic!

5. Not only am I an aerial yoga teacher, I’m also certified to teach water rowing and bungee fitness. Years ago, I was a horseback riding instructor, too.

6. I took three years of American Sign Language in high school.

7. I live a “zero waste” eco-friendly lifestyle.

8. Like Sydney, I’ve recently become a plant mom. They bring me such joy. I do my best to keep them alive, with varying degrees of success.

9. We compost our produce scraps and use it in our garden. We’ve grown cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, spinach, lettuce, strawberries, pumpkins, carrots, sweet potatoes, snow peas, snap peas, and blueberries. We also have a grape vine, but it hasn’t produced any fruit yet.

10. I have a kiddo, and we don’t put her on social media. She loves aerial yoga, too.

11. I used to be a background/extra actor. There are so many movies and TV shows filmed in the Atl area. The coolest day was when there was a small set with only a handful of extras and 2 main actors. The actors were Jon Hamm and Olivia Wilde. The director was Clint Eastwood.

12. My husband and I celebrate our anniversary in a different state every year.

13. We met at a summer camp in Missouri. His parents met at the same camp.

14. It’s become a tradition with my in-laws to go wake surfing around Christmas/New Years. We wear dry suits, but it’s still quite cold.

15. I used to be a professional photographer.

16. The remains of a mammoth were found on my college campus. I took a class where we excavated the bones and cleaned them in the lab. The full skeleton was found.

17. I’m a pretty picky eater, but I’ve expanded my pallet a LOT in the past decade.

18. My favorite aerial yoga pose is either shoulder stand or inverted baddha konasana. There are so many fun variations you can do from those poses.

19. My first time trying aerial yoga was on a whim as a date night activity.

20. I have three aerial hammocks hanging up in my house.
